Wendell Maurice Meece, age 68 of Burnside, KY formerly of the White Lily-Colo community, departed this life on Thursday, January 20, 2011 at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

He was born on December 15, 1942 in Colo, KY to the late Leonard F. “Cat” Meece and Lena F. Mounce Meece Hunt. Mr. Meece was a route salesman for Tom’s Snacks and a member of Antioch Shores Baptist Church. He enjoyed children, doing puzzle books, flower gardens, and the outdoors. Mr. Meece enjoyed people and never met a stranger.

Mr. Meece is survived the “love of his life” for the past 20 years, Jo Ann New of Burnside, KY; his son, Denny (and Lisa) Meece of Nancy, KY; like sons, Danny New of West Liberty, KY and Tony (and Debbie) New of Shopville, KY; a daughter, Jeannie (and Don) Dillingham of Gaithersburg, Maryland; like daughters, Marvena New of Somerset, KY, Darla (and Allen) Shepherd of Shopville, KY, Paula (and Ray) Herrington of Somerset, KY, and Sandra Dale (and Rob) of Burnside, KY; his grandchildren, Dustin (and Ashton) Meece, Seth Meece, Abby Meece, Olivia Meece, Shushauna Meece-Brooks and seventeen other grandchildren; nine great-great grandchildren; and two brothers, Delno (and Linda) Meece of Somerset, KY and Eugene (and Bertha) Meece of Ohio; and a sister-in-law, Doris Glover Meece of Somerset, KY.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul Meece and Tilman Meece.

Visitation for Mr. Meece will be Sunday, January 23^rd at 5:00 pm at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home, 1046 West Highway 80, Somerset.

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, January 24^th at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. J.S. New and Bro. Blake Pinson officiating. Burial will be in the White Lily Cemetery. Mr. Meece’s grandchildren and nephew will serve as pallbearers.
