William
Lee Adkins, age 81 of Nancy, Kentucky, departed this life on
Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at his residence.
He
was born on in Somerset, Kentucky to the late Joe Willie and
Lillie Frances Bray Adkins. Mr. Adkins was a member of
Saline Baptist Church. Mr. Adkins was a loving husband,
father, grandfather and great grandfather. He loved his
family and he loved the land. He loved to farm and build and
he could build anything. Mr. Adkins was a private man that
lived for his family. He was employed by Eugene & Horne,
which later became “Hinkle”. He was better known as
“Paw” or “Cuz” to all who knew him.
Mr.
Adkins is survived by his wife, Norma Combest Adkins, whom he
married on March 11, 1950 in Somerset, Kentucky; five sons, Terry
(and Ruby) Adkins of Nancy, KY, Richard (and Anna) Adkins of
Eubank, KY, Barton (and Debbie) Adkins of Bronston, KY, Mark (and
Roberta) Adkins of Nancy, KY and Barry (and Rhonda) Adkins of
Nancy, KY; three daughters, Loretta (and Ed) Miller of Camby, IN,
Cindy (and Tom) Bolin of Nancy, KY and Lisa (and Robert) Mills of
Somerset, KY; seventeen grandchildren; thirteen great
grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren; three brothers,
Bobby (and Brenda) Adkins of Somerset, KY, Jeff Adkins of
Somerset, KY and Eddie Ray (and Ruth) Adkins of Somerset, KY;
and one sister, Jolene (and James) McGowan of Somerset, KY.
Along
with his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers,
Johnny Earl, Joe Melvin, Roy, Charles and Tommy Adkins; and two
sisters, Dorothy Mae Adkins and Martha Margaret Adkins.
Visitation
will be Sunday, October 2, 2011 after 5:00 pm at Lake Cumberland
Funeral Home, 1046 West Highway 80, Somerset, Kentucky.
Funeral
service will be held on Monday, October 3, 2011 at 11:00 am at the
Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Brother Noah Broughton
and Brother James Mills officiating. Interment will be in
Lakeside Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be his sons,
Terry, Richard, Barton, Mark and Barry Adkins and a son-in-law, Ed
Miller.
The
family request expressions of sympathy be made to the
Parkinson’s Disease Research Foundation.
