William “Billy” Burton

Mr. William “Billy” Burton, age 78, of Nancy, KY, departed this life on Friday, May 9, 2008, at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

He was born on September 23, 1929 in Nancy, KY to the late Elwood and Audie Calhoun Burton. He was a retired farmer and of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed four wheeling and riding horses.

Mr. Burton is survived by his wife, Verneda Britt Burton, whom he married on January 22, 1947 in Nancy, KY; two sons, Ronald (and Doris) Burton and Robert Burton, both of Nancy, KY; two sisters, Edna Bullock and Anna Lee King, both of Somerset; four grandchildren, (Teresa) and Pat Hansel of Somerset, Kathy Smith of Somerset, Rodney Burton of Nancy, KY, and Alisha Burton Alexander; six great grandchildren, Nathan Keeney, Michael Girdler, Airel Girdler, Kyra Smith, Miraha Burton, and Braxton Wright Burton; and two great-great grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents; a brother, Kenneth Burton; and two sisters, Maudie Bray and Alma Bray.

Funeral services will be Monday, May 12, 2008 at 2:00 pm at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. J.S. New and Bro. Denny Britt officiating. Burial will follow in the Chesterview Cemetery at Nancy, KY.

Visitation will be Sunday, May 11, 2008 from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.
