William Riley Wright, age
78, of Somerset, KY passed away Saturday, August 28, 2010 at his
residence.
Mr. Wright was born in
Shopville, KY on October 21, 1931 to the late Henry Monroe &
Stella Smith Wright. He was a United States Navy veteran and
worked as a machine operator for Diamond International of Norwood,
OH and Seasongood of Harrison, OH. Mr. Wright enjoyed fishing,
hunting, his dog “Orphan Annie”, walking through the fields to
enjoy the view, and his grandsons. He was a member of Pleasant
View Baptist Church.
Mr. Wright is survived by
his wife, Myrtle “Helen” Turner Wright, whom he married on May
6, 1961 at the Mt. Carmel Freewill Baptist; a son, Stanley W.
Wright of Colorado; a daughter, Sharron Wright of Frankfort, KY;
two sisters, Christine Barnes of Somerset, KY and Mellia (&
Russell) Creech of the Acorn-Ano community; a grandson, Jeremy
Trentman; and like a grandson, Quillan Short.
Along with his parents, he
is preceded in death by three brothers; Everett Wright, Charley
Wright, and Steven Wright; and a sister, Kathelene Linville.
Visitation will be held on
Monday, August 30, 2010 at 6:00 pm at the Chapel of Lake
Cumberland Funeral Home, 1046 West Highway 80, Somerset.
Funeral service for William
Riley Wright will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, August 31, 2010
at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. William
Brown officiating. Interment will follow in Short Creek Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the
family requests that donations be made to Hospice of Lake
Cumberland, 100 Parkway Drive, Somerset, KY 42503.
