Mrs. Willie Hazel Massey,
age 82 of Somerset, KY departed this life on Tuesday, March 22,
2011 at the Kenwood Health & Rehabilitation Center in
Richmond, KY.
She was born on November
28, 1928 in McCreary County, KY to the late Charles and Selena
Angel Anderson. Mrs. Massey was a graduate of the Somerset High
School, a member of the Calvary Baptist Church, and loved cooking
and caring for her family. She was an excellent quilter and
excellent seamstress, having been a supervisor for many years at
the Palm Beach Company.
Mrs. Massey is survived by
two daughters, Donna (and Rick) Collins of Richmond, KY and
Kimberly Massey of Somerset, KY; six grandchildren; and four great
grandchildren.
Along with her parents, she
was preceded in death by her husband, James D. Massey, whom she
married on December 23, 1949 in Somerset, KY; a daughter, Lora
Denney; two sisters, Virgie Anderson and Rosella Fox; and three
brothers, Joseph, Harold and Thomas Anderson.
Visitation for Mrs. Massey
will be Thursday, March 24th at 6:00 pm at the Chapel
of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with her memorial service at 7:00
pm. A graveside service will be held on Friday, March 25th
at 11:00 am at the Mill Springs National Cemetery in Nancy, KY.
Pallbearers for Mrs. Massey will be Flint Collins, Josh Tarter,
Jason Denney, Rick Collins, Tim Harrison, Drew Harris, and Noah
Harrison.
The family request
expressions of sympathy be made to the Alzheimer’s Association
and/or Pulaski-Somerset Senior Citizens Center.
