Hulen K. Wilson, age 85, of Somerset, Kentucky, passed from this life on Sunday, January 4, 2026 at Jean Waddle Care Center.
Hulen was born on December 18, 1940 to the late Eston Wilson and Velma Roy Wilson in Ingle, Kentucky.
He was a member of the Baptist faith. He retired from Pulaski County Schools after a 30-year career as a teacher and previously served as a basketball coach at Shopville High School. He took pride in watching his son and grandchildren participate in sports. Additionally, he was founder and operated Buyers Paradise Furniture. His interests included hunting and fishing with his son, grandson, and special friend Bruce Ping, as well as gardening and raising flowers, blueberries, and blackberries.
Hulen was preceded in death by his parents, Eston and Velma Wilson, brothers: Dewell Wilson, Dale Wilson, and Phillip Wilson, sisters: Eloise Love and Grace Howard.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife of 58 years, Carol Wilson, his son, Brian Wilson (Vicki) of Nancy, Ky; brother Cordell Wilson of IN; grandchildren: Kellen Wilson and Kayla Wilson.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 7, 2026 from 12pm-2pm in the Chapel of the Southern Oaks Funeral Home with a funeral service to begin at 2pm with Bro. Patrick Patterson officiating.
Pallbearers will be Kellen Wilson, Marty Wilson, Bruce Ping, Tracy Bullock, Chris Burton, Dewayne Lanter and Chad Smallwood.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of Lake Cumberland. Southern Oaks Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements for Hulen K. Wilson.
