Pastor Coy G. Cox Sr., age 85, of Somerset, Kentucky, entered his eternal home wrapped in the hope of the Gospel he faithfully preached for six decades.
He is survived by his loving wife, Joan Cox, whom he adored. Their marriage was a beautiful testimony of devotion, faith, and steadfast love.
Brother Cox began pastoring churches in 1960 and spent his life sharing the Gospel from the pulpit and wherever the Lord led him. Whether in a church, a hospital room, a neighborhood visit, or a simple conversation, he was always pointing others to Christ. The communities he served, knew him as a man committed to spreading the Gospel and expanding the Kingdom. His life was marked by unwavering faith, diligent work, and a shepherd’s heart for people.
He was preceded in death by his parents, eight brothers and sisters, and his grandson, Nathan Cox.
He is survived by two sons: Rob Cox (Lois) and Coy Cox Jr. (Christi). He also leaves behind six grandchildren: Amanda Cox, Anthony Cox (Hannah), Thad Cox (Mandy), Courtney Sauerbeck (Matt), Corey Cox (Carmen), Misty Cundiff (GG), Amanda Tyree (Jonathan) and fourteen great-grandchildren: Zabery Cox, Aslynn Cox, Gavin Cox, Mara Jo Sauerbeck, Brecken Sauerbeck, Dekota Tyree, Tyler Davis, Luke Shelton, Kannon Cundiff, Kasen Cundiff, Alexander Cundiff, Addison Cundiff, Elivia Tyree, and Ransom Roberts; along with a special grandchild, Breanna Haney.
To his family, he was known not only as a pastor, but as a devoted husband, who deeply loved “Mom”, a man of steady hands and tireless work ethic, a source of strength and stability, and someone who never missed the opportunity to share a good joke. His faith was constant, his leadership firm, and his love was evident in both word and action. Though he will be deeply missed, we rejoice in the promise that he is now home with his Savior. His family rests in the blessed assurance that this separation is only temporary.
