Connie Darlene Simpson, age 75 of Somerset, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 2, 2026 surrounded by loved ones.
She was born on January 19, 1951 in Monticello, Kentucky, to the late Roy Estell and Parlee Massengale Perdue. Connie was a loving mom, a devoted family member, loyal friend, and a cherished member of her community. Connie will be remembered for kindness, courage, and loving spirit.
Connie was a homemaker and a member of Gap Creek Baptist Church. She was raised in the Alpha Community of Wayne County, where she was deeply rooted in the traditions and values passed down to her. Connie was known for her warm smile and welcoming nature. Family was the heart of Connie’s life. She took great pride in supporting and encouraging her loved ones, celebrating their milestones, and creating gatherings filled with laughter and love. Her home was a place of comfort, good conversation, and shared memories. Connie married Sam Simpson on April 7, 1971. They were married for 31 years before his passing on September 17, 2002.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Sam W. Simpson; siblings, Gene Perdue, Darrell Perdue, Lucille Guffey, Uldean Choate, Sandy Dixon, Joan Smith, and Peggy Guffey.
She is survived by 3 sons, Jarrod (Angela) Simpson of Somerset, Matthew Simpson of Richmond, and Nick (Stacey) Simpson of Somerset; 2 sisters, Phyllis Winchester of New Castle, IN and Lela Chesney of Greenfield, IN; brother-in-law, Charles Simpson; her grandchildren, Ally Hobbs, Jacey Gafford, Gavin Simpson, Rylan Simpson, Jude Simpson, and Noah Simpson; very special friends, Sue Owens, Pam Coomer, JoAnn Wilson, Francis Meece, and Betty Resor. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews that were like siblings.
Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 9, 2026 at Southern Oaks Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home with Bro. Charles Meece officiating. Burial will be in the Elk Springs Cemetery in Monticello. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of Lake Cumberland.
Southern Oaks Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements for Connie Darlene Simpson.
