Somerset, KY Obituaries. Preserving Their Memory.

Oscar Lee Harless Jr., age 57, of Somerset, Kentucky, passed from this life on April 9th, 2026. He was born on August 3, 1968 to the late Oscar Lee Harless Sr. and Linda Coldiron Rice in Abingdon, Virigina. He is also preceded in death by his infant grandson, Daniel Lee Harless and step father Randy Rice.
Lee leaves behind to cherish his memory, his daughter Leanna Taylor (Kyle) of Nancy, Ky; his son, Oscar Lee Harless III (Angel) of Somerset, Ky; sister Donna Renee Mullins (Duane Poston) of Latonia, Ky; along with nephews: Joshua Abbott, Jeremy Mullins, Trenton Behymer, and niece Amanda Moore. He is also survived by his stepchildren from a previous relationship, Darin Winters and Chrystine Combs.
Lee will be remembered as a hardworking and dedicated man who took great pride in his work. A graduate of Holmes High School, Class of 1987, he carried that same determination and strong work ethic throughout his life, leaving a lasting impression on those who knew him.
Outside of work, Lee truly lived life on his own terms. He had a passion for dirt track racing and could often be found behind the wheel or enjoying the excitement of the track. He was also a devoted fan of NASCAR, rarely missing a race. Music was another big part of his life, he loved all music but had a special place for heavy metal and rock & roll, always turning it up and breaking out the air guitar.
Lee was a sports fan, proudly cheering on the Cincinnati Bengals and Kentucky Wildcats men’s basketball. He also found peace in the outdoors, where he enjoyed hunting and spending time in nature.
He attended High Street Baptist Church, where he valued his faith and the sense of community it brought.
Above all, he cherished his family. They were the center of his world. He also had a special place in his heart for his fur babies, who brought him constant companionship and happiness.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his strength, his passions, and the love he had for his family.
A private celebration of life will be held at a later date. Southern Oaks Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements for Oscar Lee Harless, Jr.
