Douglas L. Sparks, age 91, of Somerset, Kentucky, passed from this life on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at Jean Waddle Care Center.
Douglas was born on October 13, 1934, to the late Henry L. Sparks and Mayme Nell-Dennis Sparks in Paradise, Kentucky. He was of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed building, fixing, and trading cars. There was nothing he couldn’t fix, repair, or maintain. He enjoyed watching old westerns, but most of all, he loved spending time with his family. Douglas had a great laugh and a big heart.
Along with his parents, Douglas was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle Sparks, a sister, Mary Lowe, grandson, Douglas L. Sparks and great-grandson, Connor Smith.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his sons: Ronald Sparks of Antioch, IL and Randy Sparks (Lynnette) of Willis, TX; daughters: Lucy Girdler of Somerset, Ky; Brenda Edwards (Richard) of WI and Cheryl Murray (Edward) of Somerset, Ky; sisters: Shelby Jean McEuen of AZ; Jane Hopkins of NC; Diane Neal (Larry) and Alice Faye all of AZ;

Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2025, from 11am to 1pm in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home with a funeral service to begin at 1pm with Bro. David Skaggs officiating. Southern Oaks Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements for Douglas L. Sparks.
