Richard Douglas Mauck, age 78, of Somerset, Kentucky, peacefully went to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at Hospice of Lake Cumberland, surrounded by loved ones.
Rick was born on March 23, 1947 to the late James Edward Mauck and Elizabeth Offutt Mauck in Washington, D.C.
He was a strong, committed Christian, who shared his faith unapologetically. He wrote multiple dissertations, tackling difficult Bible topics, and loved studying theology.
Rick was a devoted husband and genuinely adored his wife of 32 years. He cherished time with his children and grandchildren, bringing laughter to the family with his silly jokes and antics.
As a young man, he enjoyed running and road trips. At 19 years of age, he enlisted in the Army and served as a radio teletype operator, encrypting top secret messages, in Germany, during Vietnam.
He will be deeply missed by all that knew and loved him.
Along with his parents, Rick was preceded in death by his brother James (Dee) Mauck. He leaves behind, to cherish his memory, his wife Sandra Faye Mauck, sons: Shane D. Mauck (Jennifer), Dakota de Lance (Jessica), Shane R. de Lance (Kelly), daughters: Sierra D. Helton (Cory), Cheyenne Wilson (Matthew), along with 12 grandchildren.
Graveside service will be held on Monday, March 2, 2026 at 2:30pm at Mill Springs National Cemetery with Dean Collins officiating.
Military honors will be conducted by American Legion Honor Guard Post #38. Southern Oaks Funeral home is entrusted with the arrangements for Richard Douglas Mauck.
