Robin “Rob” Newsome, age 43, of Somerset, Kentucky, passed away on January 3, 2026.
Rob is survived by his father, Hermit Newsome; his brothers, William, Mike, and Bill Newsome; his sisters, Jessica Crum, Samantha Newsome, Stephanie Newsome, and Susie Sawyers; several deeply cherished nieces and nephews; his beloved aunt and uncle, Brenda and Lynn Roback; and Amber Fitzgerald, his best friend and former spouse.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Carolyn “Cookie” Hall; his brother, Randall Slone; and his grandmother, Cecil Hall.
Rob worked as a master electrician with Lowery’s Electric, where the Lowerys meant more to him than coworkers—they were family. He was also a proud member of the Kentucky National Guard and earned a bachelor’s degree from American Military University.
Outside of work, Rob enjoyed weightlifting, but nothing compared to the love he had for his basset hounds. Duke and Daisy meant the world to him, and it brings comfort to imagine them now running beside him through Heaven—Rob likely sneaking them all the ice cream they could ever want.
He cherished his church family at St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church, where his faith brought him comfort, community, and strength.
Rob will be remembered for his humor, his loving heart, and his special love for animals. Though deeply missed, his spirit, laughter, and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
A memorial service with visitation will be held at St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church, 206 W. Columbia Street, Somerset, KY 42501, on Saturday, January 10. Visitation will begin at 3:00 p.m., followed by the service at 4:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Rob’s honor may be mailed or taken to The Pulaski County Kentucky Animal Shelter, 235 Adopt Me Lane, Somerset, Kentucky 42051.
