Somerset, KY Obituaries. Preserving Their Memory.

Stephen Henry Witowich Sr., 85, of Somerset, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on December 9,
2025, at the Hospice of Lake Cumberland Jean Waddle Care Center. He was born on November 22,
1940, in Sewickley, Pennsylvania, to the late Nick and Dorothy (Tesnovich) Witowich.
Stephen served his country in the United States Armed Forces for 9 years as a Staff Sergeant.
Following his military service, he continued a lifetime of dedication through his work in Environmental Services, specializing in hazardous material cleanup until his retirement.
Stephen married the love of his life, Marie Witowich, with whom he shared a life grounded in devotion,
humor, and deep family bonds. He was the proud father of Stephen “Stevie” Witowich Jr. (deceased),
Brian (Michelle) Witowich, Heather (Katie) McClendon-Parvin, and Amanda (Jimmie) Foster. He was a
cherished grandfather to Alicia Mcyck Witowich (Dmytri Rokavan), Alexander (Kaylin) Witowich, Baran
(Korry) Witowich, Jasmine Foster, and JJ Foster; and a beloved great-grandfather to Regan, Kennedy,
and Aria Witowich.
Stephen is also survived by his siblings, Robert “Bobby” Witowich and Patty Larrick, along with many
extended family members. He was preceded in death by his siblings Dorothy “Sis” Cousins;
sister-in-law Elaine Witowich; and brothers-in-law Donald Larrick and William “Bill” Cousins.
A man of strong Ukrainian Orthodox faith, Stephen lived with gratitude, curiosity, and a playful sense of
humor. He loved music deeply and was an avid collector of vinyl records—especially 45s—along with
music and classic movie memorabilia. He found joy in being outdoors, tending to his yard, and cheering
on his beloved Pittsburgh Steelers. His appreciation for simple pleasures and good company made him
someone people naturally gravitated toward.
Stephen will be remembered for his stories, his laugh, his unwavering loyalty to those he loved, and the
pride he carried for his heritage, his family, and his service.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 12, 2025 from 11am to 3pm in the Chapel of the Southern Oaks Funeral Home with a funeral service to begin at 3pm with Bro. Matt Queener and
Bro. David Berrios officiating. Burial will follow in Southern Oaks Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of Lake Cumberland in
gratitude for the compassionate care he received.
Military Honors will be conducted by American Legion Honor Guard Post #38. Southern Oaks
Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements for Stephen Henry Witowich Sr.
