William Eddie Root, age 68, of Somerset, Kentucky, passed from this life on Sunday, January 11, 2026 at Lake Cumberland Regionald Hospital.
Eddie was born June 12, 1957 in Manchester, Kentucky to the late John Root and Viola Wolfe Root.
He enjoyed being outdoors, mowing, tending to the yard and he loved his church of 40 years, St. Patrick’s Episcopal. He loved his caregivers: Tony & Jamie Keith. He was a resident of Oakwood for over 25 years. He loved people and never met a stranger. Eddie enjoyed his day training at Serenity Foundations and was loved by everyone there.
Eddie was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: John Root Jr., James Estill Root, Wendell “Cabbage” Root, Earnest Lee Root, and a sister, Betty Sue Root.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his sisters: Debra Kay Tedders (Jimmy) and Lillie Mae Tedders (Roy) all of Indianapolis, Indiana; his caregivers: Tony & Jamie Keith; along with several nieces and nephews.
Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, January 14, 2026 from 1pm-3pm in the Chapel of the Southern Oaks Funeral Home. Southern Oaks Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements for William Eddie Root.
