Betty J. Cox

Betty J. Cox, age 81, of Nancy, Kentucky, passed from this life on Thursday, October 19, 2023 peacefully at her home.

Betty was born on August 31, 1942 to the late Ray Baker and Geneva Stevenson Baker in Nancy, Kentucky.

She was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church #1. She enjoyed spending time on the lake on the family houseboat, tending to her flowers and yard work. She enjoyed going antique shopping and her fur baby, “Sassy”. Most of all she cherished her family and will be greatly missed by all that knew her.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Geneva Baker, a son, Jamie Halcomb, and brother, Donnie Baker.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her husband of 38 years, Jack Cox; son, Mark Halcomb (Bridget) of Nancy, Ky; sisters, Sue Burton (Gary) of Nancy, Ky; Rowena Mitnick of Virginia Beach, VA; daughter in law, Delsie Halcomb; grandchildren, Macy Halcomb, Meghan Halcomb (Bobbi), Lensey Joyner (Jonathon); 2 great- grandchildren, Jaycee Hargis and Journee Halcomb; along with special niece, Kristi Burton.

Visitation will be held on Monday, October 23, 2023 from 11am to 1pm in the Chapel of the Southern Oaks Funeral Home with a funeral service to begin at 1pm with Bro. Barry Vaught officiating. Burial will follow in the Halcomb Family Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of Lake Cumberland.
