Betty Tarter age 74, of Somerset, Kentucky passed from this life on Sunday, May 19, 2024 at her home.

Betty was born on April 14, 1950 to the late Woodrow Gaines and Marie Minton Gaines in Somerset, Kentucky.

She was of the Nazarene faith. She was very family oriented, her family was very precious to her. She stated that her biggest accomplishment in life was having her daughter and two grandchildren. She proudly worked at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Pathology for 36 years and when not working, she enjoyed helping others. Her hobbies included: reading, baking and collecting salt and pepper shakers.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Woodrow and Marie Gaines and her brother, Earl Gaines. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her daughter, Sherry Rose (Jimmy) of Science Hill, Ky; lifelong friend, Duane and cat named Marigold; grandchildren: Logan Stigall (Rachel) of Somerset, Ky and Emily Rose (Dylan) of Hodgenville, Ky.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 23, 2024 from 11am to 1pm in the Chapel of the Southern Oaks Funeral Home with a funeral service to begin at 1pm with Bro. Richard West and speaker, Judy Minton officiating. Burial will follow in Norfleet Cemetery in Nancy, Kentucky.
