Eva Joan Whitaker, age 78, of Eubank, Kentucky, passed from this life on Wednesday, September 16, 2020 at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.

She was born on June 8, 1942 in Somerset, Kentucky, daughter of the late Lucian and Mary Whitaker Trowbridge. She lived most of her life in Eubank, until moving to Ohio for many years. She later moved back to Eubank to retire. She was a homemaker and a member of Floyd Switch Baptist Church, where she was the organist. Eva was saved at the age of 16. She belonged to, and held several positions for both chapters of the Eastern Star Seven Hills Chapter #589 and #501 in Waynesburg. She also worked with Jobs Daughters. Eva was a very talented lady. She was a professional seamstress and also crocheted. She was a great quilter and made quilts for all of her family and all of the babies. At family functions, we all knew we would get a piece of her good chocolate pie. She made the family bags of Peanut Brittle every Christmas. She had a big heart and lots of love for her babies. Her true joy came from being a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, for she loved her babies so much. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her niece Pamela Jo Whitaker.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Dale Whitaker, whom she married on August 30, 1958; one daughter, Sandra (Chris) Miller of Harrison, OH; grandchildren, Scott (Katie) Brown, and Bryce Miller, all of Harrison, OH, and Tracy (Jalal) Dababseh of Westerville, OH; great-grandchildren, Isaiah Brown, Sarah Dababseh, Rema Dababseh, Salime Dababseh, Emily Ball, Aiden Ball, and Everly Rose Brown; nieces, Vicki Rogers, Mitzi Whitaker, Karen Marcenko, Lisa (Mark) Pilcher, Lori (Bobby) Mounce, Kathy May, and Charlcie May; nephews, Wayne Whitaker, Donnie Ray Whitaker, Bobby Whitaker, and Jr. May; and a host of other family members and many friends.

Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 21, 2020 at the Floyd Switch Baptist Church. Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday at the church with Bro. Jeff Griffin and Bro. Vestal Meece officiating. Burial will be in Eubank Cemetery.
