Jack Lewis Atwell

Jack Lewis Atwell (79) of Somerset, KY passed from this life on March 9th, 2023.

Jack was born in Lexington, KY to Lewis and Dorothy (Aldridge) Atwell.

After High School, Jack enlisted and served for 3 years in the United States Army where he was stationed in Germany for most of his service. Upon returning to Kentucky, he met and married Patricia Geraldine (Crowe) Atwell in 1966.

He earned his college degree from the State University of New York and worked for KET, the Xerox Corporation and Toshiba before retirement. During their 51 years of marriage, Jack and Gerry raised 4 children and considered them their greatest achievement. He enjoyed reading non-fiction, watching science fiction, discussing politics and supporting the UK sports teams. After the death of his wife in 2018, Jack enjoyed spending mornings chatting with his friends at the South Hardee’s, took up repairing watches as a hobby and looked after his two youngest grandsons. Jack had a great sense of humor, was loved by many and will be missed by all.

Other than his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Mike Atwell.

He is survived by his sisters, Sandra “Tootie” Salama and Karen Allen, his children; Seth & Eric Atwell, Lorae Singleton of Somerset, Jacklyn Evans of Bardstown, their spouses, his 10 grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Visitation will begin at 11am on Monday, March 13th, directly followed by a funeral service at 1pm at the Southern Oaks Funeral home located at 2110 W. HWY 914, Somerset KY 42503.
