Janie McDonald Sloan of Eubank, Kentucky, age 75, passed away on June 5, 2026 at home with her husband at her side.
Janie is survived by her husband of 44 years, Wendell Sloan, and her daughter, Katherine Lee McKinney, brother, Paul McDonald and many nieces and nephews.
Janie was born at St. Joseph Hospital December 27, 1950 in Lexington, Ky. She worked as an accountant, office administrator, for VA Hospital. She loved cooking, canning, baking and made the best jam cake that was everyone’s favorite at family gatherings. She loved gardening, crocheting, and collecting dolls.
Janie was preceded in death by her son, John Henry McKinney (1972), her son, John Charles McKinney (2025), her mother Sylvia Miller (1999), Father Oliver McDonald (1975), her sisters Margaret Reed (2015), & Mary McDonald (2023) and her brothers (David McDonald (2022) and Clarence McDonald (2009).
Janie was a loving wife, mother, sister and aunt and was a faith filled believer in God and is now at home with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
A private service will be held with Rev. Gerald Ashley officiating. Southern Oaks Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements for Janie McDonald Sloan.
