John Martin “Joe” Head

John Martin “Joe” Head age 77, of Somerset, Kentucky passed from this life Saturday, September 11, 2021 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

Joe was born May 24, 1944 to Joseph and Susan Head in New Haven, Kentucky.

Joe was an active member of Slate Branch Baptist Church, Veteran of the United States Air Force and retired from Tecumseh Products. He loved all church activities, 4 wheeling with the kids and grandkids, picking up his grandkids from school, being with the family on all holiday gatherings and birthday parties and was chief dishwasher at home.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Earl Head (Mary Ruth), Jake Head (Florence), Jimmy Head (Shirley), Boyd Head; sisters, Gertie Jenkins (Vernon), Theresa Tate (Bob), Pearl Gardener (Marvin), and Josephine Tuholski (Ed).

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife, Joy L. Tucker Head whom he married on October 24, 1974; sons, Bobby Allen Head (Holly); Rodney Wayne Head (Audrey); grandchildren, Dylan, Devan, Makinzee, Haylee, Joseph, Catie, Ella, Maddie and Ren; sister-in-laws, Lisa Gray (James) of Louisville; Tonda Wright (Eddie) of Somerset; along with 47 nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 15, 2021 from 5 to 8 P.M. in the Chapel of the Southern Oaks Funeral Home.

Visitation will continue at 11:00 A.M. at Slate Branch Baptist Church with a funeral service to begin at 12:00 P.M. at the church with Bro. Bill Dawson and Bro. Eddie West officiating. Burial will follow in Slate Branch Baptist Church Cemetery.
